Kairi

cosplayer from Poland who started cosplaying in 2008

She is known for the quality and details in her cosplays, her first cosplay was Rikku from Final Fantasy X and she is improving with her works ever since.

Please introduce yourself – what’s your cosplay name, where are you from, how long have you been cosplaying?

Hi! I’m Kairi a cosplayer living in Poland. I’m doing costumes since 2008.

How did you start cosplaying? What was you first costume?

My story is rather boring. I’ve just attended a manga and anime oriented convention and spotted some cool looking people dressed as their favourite characters. I wanted to try it too! 🙂 My first costume was Rikku from Final Fantasy X!

Do you have your favorite costume? If yes – what is it and why?

No no no! I don’t! It’s like choosing your favourite child and it’s kinda impossible to do it without hurting the feelings of others. Hah!

What part of this hobby/life style do you like the most? Why?

Most of all I love being on stage. Performing as cosplaying character is the est feeling ever. Also all of the travels give me great memories and every each of them is an unique adventure!

Why cosplay is important for you?

Cosplay is the most creative hobby I can tihnk of and I’m very happy I could join this crafting army many years ago. It gave me lots of self-confidence and opportunities. Thanks to cosplay I improve on and on.

How do you choose characters that you cosplay?

I like most of the characters I chose to cosplay! I can relate to them somehow or I jusr like their personalities. Sometimes I chose characters to meet my phisical conditions to fit to the rest of my cosplay group.

How much time do you usually spend on one costume? What was the longest time you spent on one costume and which costume it was?

A regular costume with medium difficulity takes around a month to complete materials and do all the crafting. A project that took me the longest and was the most complex was Griffith from Berserk. That was my first time doing a fullplate armor. It took 3 months to build.

What would you consider to be the biggest achievement in you cosplay carrier?

This year I was a judge during European Cosplay Gathering at Japan Expo in Paris. A few years ago I would not even dream about being there in this role. And it happened. Somehow!

Do you have any funny stories or accidents related to cosplay?

Sometimes people at conventions are misstaking me for some other cosplayers and that’s always very funny! 😀 I always have lots of fun with friends during cons so it’s impossible to choose one.

What would you say for people who thinks that cosplay is pointless waste of time and money?

I would just advice them to try it out for their own! They need to discover this feeling by themselves!

What would you advice or whish for people who want to start cosplaying, but for unknown reasons are afraid or just don’t know where to start?

Follow your heart! Always think positevly and remember that every cosplayer started somewhere – not always in a perfect way. Don’t get easily down by your failures. Try to get as much experience from is as possible and improve with every new project you decide to make in the future!

Is there anything else you would like to say?

Can’t wait to see you in Vilnius, All! <3
