ONLINE K-POP DANCE CONTEST RULES

Comic Con Baltics 2024: Online K-Pop Dance Contest will take place virtually from April 25th, 2024, to June 11th, 2024.

Participants must fill out a registration form, which can be found at: https://forms.gle/cFmDaxAjfoyoYPrg8. Confirmation email will be sent within 5 business days after receiving the registration form.

By registering, participants confirm that they have provided accurate information and agree that their personal data will be stored for the purposes of organizing Comic Con Baltics.

Contest participants can submit their recorded K-Pop dance from April 25th to May 31st, 23:59.

Submitted videos will be evaluated from June 3rd to June 7th by a specially appointed judges team.

Winners will be announced on June 11th on Comic Con Baltics’ social media channels.

NOTE: Organizers reserve the right to change or otherwise amend the contest rules.

ONLINE K-POP DANCE CONTEST CATEGORIES

When registering for the virtual K-Pop competition, participants can choose from the following categories:

  1. K-Pop Solo: one dancer.
  2. K-Pop Duo: two dancers.
  3. K-Pop Group: from three to ten dancers. There cannot be more than ten dancers in a group.

NärCon K-Pop Championship (NKC): this category will include all groups consisting of 3-6 members, all members of the group being 18 years of age or older, and citizens of Lithuania or holders of a residence permit. One winning group will win a trip to Sweden and the opportunity to represent Lithuania at the NärCon Kpop Championship (NKC). The winning band will be accompanied by a representative from Comic Con Baltics. 

Only the winners of the first places will be awarded.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Anyone interested can participate, provided they are at least 14 years old. Individuals who will not have reached 18 years of age by the time of the competition must provide parental or guardian consent to participate.

The registration form must include:

  • The leader’s name, surname, date of birth, email address, and phone number.
  • The group’s name and information about other group members.
  • The K-Pop artist or group, song title, and provide a link to the original K-Pop artist or group’s dance video.

Once the registration form is filled out and submitted, participants must send their dance video via email to: k-pop@ccbaltics.com

Dance videos can be submitted in several ways:

  • Attach the video to the email.
  • Send Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox links. Important: the link must be public so that organizers can open and download the files without restrictions.

NOTE: When sending links, they must be permanent, i.e., the link cannot expire after a certain period.

K-POP SONG / DANCE REQUIREMENTS

The song must be by a Korean artist or group. Allowed languages for songs: Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese.

All dancers participating in the competition must be clearly visible throughout the entire video; backup dancers are not allowed.

The dance choreography must be the same as the original K-Pop artist’s or group’s choreography. A group participating in the contest cannot create its own dance and submit it as an original.. If dancing to a remix, it must have an already created choreography (from an official K-Pop artist or group). EXCEPTION: Empty spaces in the remix where there are no movements can be filled with movements from the original dance.

Dance length: no longer than 4-5 minutes.

VIDEO TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

The submitted video must meet the following criteria:

  • Format: MP4, at least 1920 x 1080 px;
  • The video must be filmed from the front, with a stationary camera in one frame, without any effects, cuts, or transitions;
  • Good audio quality and visibility of the dancers;
  • Video file name: [Solo/Duo/Group name]_[K-pop artist/group]_[song title]_video.

Example: Comic Con Baltics_Seventeen_Super_video.

NOTE: Organizers reserve the right to reject a video that does not meet the requirements.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

The recorded dance video submitted to the organizers will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Synchronization (Duo and Group categories): smooth coordination of movements, formations, transitions.
  • Precision: rhythm, accuracy, and sharpness of movements, attention to detail.
  • Choreography: how accurately the choreography matches the original.
  • Performance: artistry, charisma, and facial expressions.

Costumes will only be evaluated during the NärCon Kpop Championship (NKC); when submitting the video, costume will not be one of the evaluation criteria.
