
Cosplay Contest Rules
„Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest, which will take place on 21st – 22nd October 2023, is open to everyone willing to participate and meeting all requirements listed below.
To enter the „Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest it is required to fill in the registration form, which can be found at www.ccbaltics.com. If registration form is successfully filled out it will be confirmed with an e-mail. This does not guarantee participation in Cosplay contest. Additional confirmation from Comic Con Baltics Cosplay team is required.
1. „Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest categories
To enter „Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest first it is necessary to choose the category to compete in.
Solo (Comics/Books/Movies)
One contestant performs on the stage. Character for this category can be chosen from any comic, book, movie or a fanart version of that character. Length of performance is from 30s to 60s.
Solo (Anime/Manga)
One contestant performs on the stage. Character for this category can be chosen from any anime (Japanese animation) or manga (Japanese comics) or a fanart version of that character. Length of performance is from 30s to 60s.
Solo (Video Games)
One contestant performs on the stage. Character for this category can be chosen from any video game or a fanart version of that character. Length of performance is from 30s to 60s.
Cosband (Group performance)
From 2 up to 10 contestants perform on the stage. Characters for this category can be chosen from any official source (comics, books, movies, etc.), or fanart versions of those characters. Length of performance is from 45s to 150s
Original design/character
From 1 up to 10 contestants perform on the stage. This category is for your original characters of your fanart versions of any official characters. Length of performance if one contestant performing is from 30s to 60s. Length of performance if performing 2 or more contestants is from 45s to 150s.
„Nordic Cosplay Championship“
These categories are automatically entered by all Lithuanian Cosplayers, who are 18 years old during the „Comic Con Baltics“ Copslay contest. To enter these categories the costume has to be of an official character design. Original designs/characters or fanarts cannot compete for the possibility to represent Lithuania at “NCC”. Winner of this category will have get a possibility to represent Lithuania at “NCC” where participant will be accompanied by one of „Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest team member.
2. „Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest evaluation criteria.
Cosband and Solo categories:
Costume – 60 %, performance – 40 % of the final mark.
Costume will be judged by these aspects:
Accuracy – details, proportions, textures.
Construction – techniques used, costume complexity/difficulty, overall quality of the costume.
Performance will be judged by these aspects:
Entertainment factor, character portrayal, acting skills.
Original design/character category:
Costume – 60 %, performance – 40 % of the final mark.
Costume will be judged by these aspects:
Construction – techniques used, costume complexity/difficulty, overall quality of the costume.
Performance will be judged by these aspects:
Entertainment factor, acting skills.
NOTE: All judging aspects will have equal weight for the final mark.
3. General information
„Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest can be entered with costumes that have been presented in other event, however – the performance has to be new, never shown before. Costumes that have participated in previous „Comic Con Baltics“ events cannot participate in the contest.
You can perform on the stage not more than two times with the same costume but in different categories and with different performances. However, the number of costumes is not limited.
When registering for the contest provide us with phone number and e-mail that you are using constantly. Fast and quality communication is the key to success.
By registering to „Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest you confirm that you provide us with your legit personal data and agree that your personal data will be saved for the „Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest organizing purposes. All underage people should provide us with permission signed by their parents or legal guardians in free form.
By participating at „Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest you agree that your images taken during „Comic Con Baltics“ will be saved and used for „Comic Con Baltics“ organizing purposes.

4. Registration
Note, that registration to „Comic Con Baltics“ Cosplay contest ends 2023-09-20 23:59. To enter the competition you have to submit fully completed registration form, which can be found at www.ccbaltics.com.
If registration form is successfully filled out it will be confirmed with an e-mail. This does not guarantee participation in Cosplay contest. Additional confirmation from Comic Con Baltics Cosplay team is required.
If there will be a necessity – you can edit your registration (change soundtrack, picture, video, etc.) until 2023-09-22 23:59. After this date – no changes will be allowed.
Due to the fact, that we do not have limitless time for the cosplay contest, there might appear a situation where we cannot accept all willing to participate. If this to happen we might ask you to send your costume (not necessarily finished) photos or performance rehearsal video, so we could arrange a pre-selection for the contest.
5. Technical requirements
There won‘t be a possibility to use microphones or live instruments during performances. Please remember that and record your preferred soundtrack in advance and send it with your application form.
Check if your soundtrack length is correct. It cannot be shorter or longer than stated in these rules.
Audio files should be in MP3 (not lesser quality than 128 kbps, 44kHz).
It‘s a must to attach your character picture, that will be shown on the screens during the competition. Picture size should be: 1024 x 768. Possible formats: JPG, PNG or BMP.
If registering to one of solo categories then only your character can be shown in the picture.
If registering to group category – all group characters have to be shown in the picture.
If registering to original design/character category you can send character‘s picture, photo of you in the costume or any inspirational picture that you used for your costume.
When registering to solo or cosband categories you can additionally send three more pictures, for more detailed reference. This will help the judges to evaluate your costume more accurately.
If you want to show videos during your performance, please contact us right after you get your registration form success e-mail from „Comic Con Baltics“. Attach your video to the email, or provide us with Wetransfer or Dropbox link to your video file.
All files that you send with your application form must be named with your nickname group name and „audio“ for soundtrack, „screen“ for your character picture, „judges“ for additional reference pictures, „video“ for video files. Example: Cosplayer_audio.mp3, Cosplayer_screen.jpg, Cosplayer_judges1, Cosplayer_video.mp4.
6. Safety
Please note that all your props should be safe for the surroundings and people around you. All weapon replicas should be made of safe materials (plastic, lightweight wood, EVA foam, etc.) Metal blades (even not sharp ones) will not be allowed. Firearm replicas cannot have possibility to actually shoot. All your props might be checked at the entrance or at any time during the event and all sharp blades, swords, knifes, axes and other piercing or cutting objects will be confiscated until the end of the event.
Using pyrotechnics on the stage is forbidden. Not following this rule guaranties disqualification from the cosplay contest and removing that person from the event. Confetti can be used however, but you must inform the organizers prior the event. When registering mark that you are going to use stage props and in „Stage props description“ box write that you are going to use confetti. Confetti cannot be smaller than 2 cm x 2 cm. If confetti will be used without informing organizers – this will be treated as strong violation of contest rules and participant will be disqualified.
No liquids, glitters, powder or other materials that can ruin stage flooring or be difficult to clean are allowed to use during performance, also no materials harmful for people and surroundings are allowed. Not following this rule guaranties disqualification from the cosplay contest and removing that person from the event.
„Comic Con Baltics“ is family event and big part of participants are underage people. This means that excessive nudity (opaque tights or leggings are MANDATORY under skirts, shorts or any other revealing clothing), oversexualized content, excessive cruelty and obscene lexicon is not allowed. Not following this rule guaranties disqualification from the cosplay contest.
