On 2-3 December Vilnius for the first time will host the event that has long term traditions all around the world. “Comic Con Baltics” will invite all fans of cinema, TV shows, comics and other pop culture, will give an opportunity to meet actors from “Game of Thrones”, “Harry Potter” series and other projects. The organizers, who decided to bring the world known event to Lithuania, believes that Baltic States are more than ready for this type of entertainment.
„It is really good to see how pop culture is growing in Lithuania. People visit cinemas more, there are new comic book stores online, special events for gamers. It is obvious, that people wants these kind of events. This is also indicated by the requests to participate in our event. We are sure that we are going to have the biggest Cosplay competition in the Baltic states and we are considering to do drafting for participants because of a huge number of applications “, – says the Head of Communications of „Comic Con Baltics“ Vainius Eiva.
„Comic Con“ events has a particular feature that will also be applied in „Comic Con Baltics“ in Vilnius. That is an opportunity to meet actors from movies and TV series. „This is not a daily thing to see an actor in our country. Especially those who acts in the biggest movies or TV series. That is why it is so great to give this opportunity to our people – to meet and to talk with them“, – told V. Eiva. Besides the actors, there will be a lot of props from famous cinema projects and well known TV series. From cars, robots to spaceships and other props.
This December there will a bunch of actors coming from different projects. It’s Eugene Simon and Ian Beattie from Game of Thrones, Josh Herdman that starred in all “Harry Potter” movies. The event will also be visited by Oscar winner for movie „Terminator 2: Judgement Day“ Gene Warren Jr. and his son Gene Warren III, who also filmed “Atilla” mini-series in Lithuania. Comics fans will be glad to meet a well known webcomics artist Sarah Andersen with her „Sarah‘s Scribbles“. Cosplay artist will also be happy since they will meet some famous cosplayers. Two of them – Santatory and TimeForLemonTea – are coming from Norway. And this is just a part of who is coming to the event.
“Comic Con” is grwoing for almost five decades in the USA. Started from jus a small movement of comic book lovers it now became one of the most important events in pop culture industry. And not just the USA but also in the major European cities too. According to the organizers of “Comic Con Baltics”, it was just a matter of time when it would have come to Lithuania. „The new generation has grown that loves movies and comics. New pop culture traditions are spreading rapidly through the internet that is why there is a need of this kind of the event. And we see how interested people are. We get loads of inquiries from Lithuania and neighbouring countries. Even retailers are extremely interested and wants to sell or show their services or merchandise. It is good for our attendees because they will have a huge variety to choose for their Christmas presents“, – saysthe organizers.
„We are updating the information daily on our guests and activities. We are sure that there was no other event like this in Lithuania and Baltic States. People will have plenty to do during this weekend. Meetings with actors, game zone, special cinematic areas, comics zones and many more.
